The exhibition After Effects frames what comes after Lower Manhattan Cultural Council’s residency program in the World Trade Center. How has the new security environment left an imprint on the city and its inhabitants? And how have international artists brought global perspective to war and terror? LMCC artists offer critical insight into the recovery process as it continues today.

Sunday, Oct. 30 3-4pm: NY Times Performance: Based on images collected from the New York Times of people grieving, After Effects artist Pia Lindman will lead a one-hour performance tour of selected monuments in Battery Park. Part of LMCC Workspace Open Studios.

Exhibiting artists include Peggy Diggs, Mariam Ghani and Chitra Ganesh, Pia Lindman, Conor McGrady, Amie Siegel. Curated by LMCC residency director Erin Donnelly.

Closing Reception and Screening: Tue., Nov. 1; 6-8pm

Join us as we wind down the exhibition After Effects with a closing reception and screening of video made downtown in Lower Manhattan Cultural Council’s residency program. From architectural bird’s-eye-view fly-throughs to intimate stream-of-consciousness voiceovers, the videos remap urban and personal space after 9/11. Olalekan Jeyifous, Carlos Motta, Karina Aguilera Skvirsky, and Traci Tullius screen their work, one-night only.
