Carter received his BA from the Maryland Institute College of Art,
Baltimore, and his MFA from the University of California, Davis. He
also studied at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in Skowhegan,
Maine. His work has been featured at White Columns, the Armory Show,
Derek Eller Gallery, Artists Space, all in New York, as well as Gallery
Paule Anglim, New Langton Arts, Southern Exposure and the Richmond
Art Center, all in San Francisco. Carter has taught at UC Davis and
at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore.
Carter works in a range of media, from ink drawings and Polaroid photography,
to sculpture and installation. Carter’s drawings and photographs
will be featured in a solo show at White Columns, and he will have
a solo show at HOTEL gallery in London this fall.
