Greg Smith received a Ph.D in physics from Harvard University, but
subsequently left the to pursue his interest in art. He received his MFA from
Hunter College in New York. Smith is both a video artist and
sculptor. His video and accompanying sculptures have been featured
at the Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art in Peekskill, NY.
Greg Smith’s work focuses on strange characters who do their best
to navigate through the urban environment around them. Integral
to his videos is the artist’s construction and use of sculptural
mechanisms that hover somewhere between working mechanisms and piles
of junk that interact with the characters and with each other.
