Joyce Kim received an MA in studio art and painting from New York
University. She
is a recipient of grants from the Pollack Krasner Foundation and the
Kittredge Fund. Her work has been exhibited at Artists Space, Nicole
Klagsbrun Gallery, Marianne Boesky Gallery, Priska Juschka Fine Art,
all in New York, as well as Museo D’Arte in Bogota, Columbia, and
Peres Project in Los Angeles. Her work has been reviewed by the New
Yorker, Flash Art International, Contemporary, The
Modern Painters, The New American Paintings and Artnet.
Kim’s work examines the practice of modernist painting, questioning
the idea of “decorative,” and the relationship between
painting and language, as well and the attendant gender issues that
emerge from various hierarchical alignments in painting.
