![]() Ranbir Sidhu is a novelist and playwright who was born in London and grew up in California. While at the LMCC Swingspace, he has been working on two major projects. The first is a new full-length play, Gagan the Strongman. This is about an ex-circus strongman living in London. The other is the final draft of the novel Deep Singh Blues. This is set in 1980s’ California and tells the story of a Sikh teenager who announces to his family one evening that he is no longer a Sikh, but is in fact a Jew. He also completed a short play, The Happiest Song in the World, which will be have a staged reading in December at Baruch College.Ranbir studied archaeology at UC Berkeley and worked as an archaeologist in California, Nevada, Israel and France. He is a winner of the Pushcart Prize in fiction and his work has appeared in numerous national journals. He has been awarded residences by the Atlantic Center for the Arts, Florida, and Villa Montalvo, California. In 2005, he was one of three novelists selected for Flux Factory’s unique project, NOVEL: a Living Installation. He is a member of MCC Playwright’s Coalition.
