Two artists participating in LMCCs New Views: World Financial Center
residency, Anne Beffel and Charles
Goldman, are creating projects that require the publics participation.
You are invited to drop by their studios in the World Financial Center Courtyard
Gallery every Monday through October 7 from 12-3pm to take part!
Beffel is collecting thoughts on the topic of apology. Some of the questions
she has asked are "What is the most poignant or important apology you have
offered, withheld, refused or accepted?" "Who do you feel apologizes
most often in our culture?" and "What in this world do you wish could
be forgiven?" Your responses to these questions become points of inspiration
for her short, fictional stories of apology, some of which will appear in her
upcoming installation.
Goldman is asking random passers-by to "lend" him one of their ephemeral
memories. Once ingested into his memory bank, the memory will serve as an inspiration
for a small clay sculpture. The sculptures will be as quick and casual as the
memories recalled and hundreds will be displayed in the WFC Courtyard during
the course of the exhibition. At the close of the show these newly commemorated
and solidified memories will be returned to their original owners.
The artists studios are located inside WFC Courtyard Gallery in the World
Financial Center, west of the West Side Hwy at 200 Vesey Street on the mezzanine
level. For more information, please contact LMCC at 212-219-9401.
