NEW MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART 2001

LMCC and the New Museum of Contemporary Art presented works by the World Views artists-in-residence in the New Museum’s first floor galleries from December 1, 2001 to January 13, 2002.

This exhibition presented work by the Summer 2001 artists, who were in residence at the time of the World Trade Center attacks. The participating artists were: Simon Aldridge, Naomi Ben-Shahar, Monika Bravo, Laurie Halsey Brown, Justine Cooper, Lucky DeBellevue, Carola Dertnig, Mahmoud Hamadani, Kara Hammond, Jeff Konigsberg, Motonobu Kurokawa, Geraldine Lau, Nathan See and Hyungsub Shin.

Michael Richards, a resident artist who was working in his World Views studio on the morning of September 11, was killed in the attack. The exhibition was dedicated to Richards, and LMCC and the larger community are honoring his memory, in part, through a fund in his name.
