Lee Arnold

2010-2011 Swing Space Resident, Building 110: LMCC’s Arts Center At Governors Island

Lee Arnold was born in London in 1972 and lives in Brooklyn. He received a BA from Hamilton College, and a MFA from the University of Pennsylvania. In his work he explores the nature of time and perception through drawing, painting, photography, film, video, animation and sound. In 2010 he was a fellow at the MacDowell Colony in Peterborough, NH, and had a solo exhibition at the Delaware Center for the Contemporary Arts in Wilmington, DE. His work has also been exhibited at vertexList, Parker's Box, Galapagos and the DUMBO Art Center in New York, Vox Populi, Fleisher-Ollman and the Esther Klein Gallery in Philadelphia, the Bridge Art Fair in Miami, SIGGRAPH in Los Angeles and Hong Kong, and the Berlinisch Galerie in Berlin.

During his residency on Governors Island Arnold will be working on a project re-imagining the Upper New York Bay, its islands and tidal waterways, as a series of glacial fjords, encouraging viewers to think about nature as part of the experience of the city.
