Enrico Dau Yang Wey was born in the United States and raised in Taiwan. His background lies in puppetry and experimental film which he studied at Sarah Lawrence College.  He has been engaged with the Handspring Puppet Company in South Africa since 2004 on their productions of Tall Horse and Il Ritorno d'Ulisse, directed by William Kentridge. Wey began developing work through the St. Ann's Warehouse Puppet Lab in 2006 under the moniker “living laboratory”, a reference to radiology case studies in the 1920’s.  Since then, he has experimented with found footage, puppetry, and movement at Fresh Meat with Lucy Yim, Catch30 with the band Shitheads On Dynamite, Throw, Mt. Tremper Arts, AUNTS and MR at Judson Church. As a performer, Enrico has worked intensively with choreographer Milka Djordjevich and has performed for Laura Manzella, Ashley Byler, and Jonathan VanDyke. Currently, he is cultivating ideas for a new installation, is a DTW Fresh Tracks recipient, has been commissioned for the winter ’09 Season at Danspace Project, and is creating a puppet piece for UNIMA, South Africa's Out the Box Festival with long time composer Samuel Stein. Enrico recently curated an evening at Danspace’s Food For Thought and serves as a freelance technical director and stage manager.

During his Swing Space residency Enrico will be developing a new piece, Sweet Home. Sweet Home threads a connection between the substitutions of sugar with artificial sweeteners to the desperate urge to preserve a relationship that has receded. Utilizing paper silhouettes and miniature moving parts in isolation, a man’s actions unfold his story within this universal experience, juxtaposing his actions with an inability to move forward.
