The Friendly Falcons & Their Friend the Snake

2010 Swing Space Resident, Building 110: LMCC’s Arts Center At Governors Island

The Friendly Falcons and Their Friend the Snake is the collaboration of artists Tara Pelletier and Jeffrey Kurosaki. They are inspired by the simple things in life that they see as spectacular, like the funny things their cats do or a school of dolphins shimmering below the water’s surface. Drawing from what they deem as life’s magnificent and miniature grandeurs, they create multi-layered narratives with sculpture, drawing, music and performance. Their work is like riding a wave of primary colors and absurdity with an undercurrent of loss and sadness.

The Friendly Falcons have performed and exhibited their work in New York, San Francisco and Detroit. Their alter ego Meow Meow Tweet has been featured in New York Magazine, Time Out New York, and The Village Voice blog.

The Friendly Falcons are using their space on Governor’s Island, Building 110, to create a new project called A Mountain Soars Over the Ocean, a staging area for various performances. They will be giving binocular tours and impromptu concerts.
