Ben Wolf

Workspace 2008-2009

Born in Nashville, Ben Wolf moved to NYC in 2001 attending Pratt Institute. While enrolled he did an exchange at VCA in Melbourne, Australia; followed by organizing/participating in a residency in Winterthur, Switzerland. His last solo show, at Secret Project Robot, was a site specific installation; an abstract realization of nature diminishing the 'structure'. The installation was an inverted forest of color descending towards a crumbling room. He recently received a BAC Regrant to complete an outdoor installation, in Brooklyn, using found materials from the immediate area. His work reflects his interests; rotten boards, rusted stair wells, peeling paint and other such decadence of abandonment. He works with similar materials; however, making no attempt to be representational. The outcomes are abstract forms that deflect reference and invite the visual journey of interpretation.
