Janelle Iglesias
Workspace 2010-2011
Janelle Iglesias is interested in transforming scavenged everyday objects into works that range from installation to sculpture, video, and photography. A Norwegian-Dominican, Queens, New York native, Janelle received an MFA in sculpture from Virginia Commonwealth University and was a recent participant at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. Her work has been exhibited in New York City at the Queens Museum, Wave Hill Sunroom, Socrates Sculpture Park, Dean Project, and internationally at Galería Isabel Hurley in Malaga, Spain. Janelle has been an artist in residence at the Fine Arts Work Center, the Bemis Center for Contemporary Art, Sculpture Space, Vermont Studio Center, and Smack Mellon. She also collaborates with her sister Lisa as Las Hermanas Iglesias.
