Jonathan Allen

Workspace 2009-2010

Jonathan Allen's mixed-media works on canvas and paper repurpose images and materials from the internet, everyday life, and pop culture to create surreal dreamscapes. These dreamscapes are often colorful and enigmatic, evoking a sense of fragmentation and poetry. Allen holds a BA in Visual Arts/Art History from Columbia University. He has exhibited in New York at Caren Golden Fine Art, The Lay-Up, Socrates Sculpture Park, PS122, Exit Art, Artists Space, and Rotunda Gallery, among others; and in Copenhagen at Wonderland Art Space. Allen’s work has been reviewed in The New York Times, The Village Voice, NY Arts Magazine, and Wonderland Magazine. He is a 2008/09 Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant recipient.
