Brooklyn’s Antibalas expand the musical language of Afrobeat developed by Fela Anikulapo-Kuti in late-‘60s Lagos, Nigeria, adding Latin, jazz, and classical elements to their funky mix.
Ogans, an Afro-Brazilian band that blends highly explosive traditional and pop rhythms, incorporate capoeira into their mix of music and dance, featuring influences from samba and reggae to axe and hip-hop.
