2010 MCAF Grantees: Music
- Chamber Orchestra of New York “Ottorino Respighi”
- To support “2009/2010 Third Season- Premieres,” featuring two programs involving two World Premieres and three U.S. Premieres, including a recently completed Respighi violin concerto from the Respighi family archive. Scheduled to take place from February-May, 2010.
- Choral Chameleon
- To support “Hymns for the Amusement of Children,” a choral concert of and metaphor, fables and fancies for the adult listener, promoting the possibilities of change.
- Citywide Youth Opera, Inc
- To support 2 Opera Recitals performed by 25 teens from across New York City including an operatic solo piece typically in a non-English language at the Roy Arias Theatres.
- Columbia Summer Winds
- To support Columbia Summer Winds 2010 Season, a series of four 1.5 hour concerts performed by 80 talented amateur ians free to the public in Parks around NYC in June and July.
- Cornerstone Chorale, Inc
- To support “Celebrating twenty years of community choral ,” a retrospective concert of movements and excerpts from major choral works Cornerstone Chorale has presented throughout its twenty-year history.
- Daneman, Benje
- To support “The Gwen Project,” an album release event of a multi-composer, multi-genre al work based on memories of Gwen Budlow, who died at 37 from Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma.
- Daniel’s Foundaion
- To support “ Celebration,” a two-week series of classes classes for youth and adults with disabilities, culminating in outreach concerts and two recitals on the Upper East Side.

- To support “The New York Brazilian Jazz Funk,” an evening performance of live Brazilian Jazz featuring New York’s most accomplished Brazilian Jazz musicians.
- Ensemble 212
- To support “2010 Season Concert Series,” a series of seven, classical concerts and two Young Artist Competitions featuring outstanding young ians based in the New York Metropolitan area.
- Ensemble Pi
- To support a concert at Cooper Union entitled, “The Ensemble Pi Peace Project: A Better Country and a Newer World,” exploring the meaning of caring in a time when so many have lost so much.
- Good Shepherd on the Island Corp.
- To support “The Church of the Good Shepherd Sunday Concert Series” that provides free concerts on Roosevelt Island which funds the emergency food program through donations received at these concerts.

- To support “The Cartologia Project,” a semester-long series of workshops with high school students, that explores the meaning of maps present and past in a variety of media with the composer, poet/performer, and visual artist, and culminate in a exhibition.
- Interfaith Committee of Remembrance
- To support “Annual Interfaith Concert of Remembrance,” a concert to honor through , poetry, and dramatic readings, the memory of those who were killed in the Holocaust presented at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine.

- To support “A Concert Series for Senior Citizens in Manhattan,” a series of 10 concerts at senior citizen residences planned cooperatively with residents and administrations of the residences.

- To support “Sabrina Lastman Quartet,” three live performances of original compositions and arranged on July 8-10, 2010 at the Third Annual Performing Arts Marathon at Teatro IATI.

- To support “4 Channels,” a performance by Dither Guitar Quartet of new and recent commissions by both upcoming and established New York composers at the Ontological .
- Loeb, Alison
- To support “MendelsSongs: Stories of a Neighborhood,” a multimedia recital featuring songs based on true stories of German Jews who fled Hitler to settle in Washington Heights, set to Felix Mendelssohn’s Songs Without Words, and performed in the community.
- MOTYL Chamber Ensemble
- To support “Human Creativity in the Face of Adversity,” a series encouraging students and members of diverse backgrounds to examine racism, prejudice, and anti-Semitism through concerts.
- New Amsterdam Symphony Orchestra Inc.
- To support the all-American orchestra program with works by Aaron Copland, George Gershwin, and Morton Gould. Conductor: Matthew Oberstein. Piano Soloist: Michael Boriskin. Special Guest Narrator: Marian Seldes.

New Paths in Music Inc. To support a "Festival of the New Republics" on June 11, featuring ensemble works by living composers from republics of the former Soviet Union.

- To support “Orpheus in the Underworld” by Jacques Offenbach --Opera’s “Moulin Rouge” updated in English to the vibrant and diverse culture of the 1970’s New York City will have four main performances with two additional outreach performances.

- To support “The M6: Meredith Monk Third Generation-Spring 2010 Concert Series,” a two concerts presented by a group of six young professional performers who have been hand selected by Meredith Monk to assist in the continuation of her legacy.

- To support the Peace of Heart Choir’s 12-20 free hour-long concerts for audiences at various non-profit organizations, in addition to two public fundraiser concerts.

- To support “Find Yourself in the Music,” a series of three, 2-hour choral concert performances in 2010.

- To support “Sybrite5 and The Cell Present Unconventional in Unconventional Venue,” a series of chamber programs (three performances of each program), one each fall, winter and spring.

- To support “Early Flutes Alive!,” a series of three concerts performed on period instruments, taking place on the Upper West Side and in Midtown, involving 15 musicians, recorded live.

- To support “Pygmalion: My Unfair Lady,” a new take on Rameau’s chamber opera to be performed at the Thalia Theatre at Symphony Space, with three community outreach components.

- To support “Cutting Edge Concerts New Festival 2010,” a month-long series presenting by living composers who discuss their works in dialogue with host Victoria Bond prior to performances by outstanding soloists and ensembles.

- To support “Music in a Garden,” a series of at least six varied al concerts during the summer of 2010, to be held in and presented by, The West Side Community Garden, free and open to the public.

- To support “Feel the Music!,” free music performances - one public concert performance and one educational concert/workshop for children and parents - for WTC Responder Day.
