2010 Spring Series: an educational dance program followed by three, full-length concerts at the Manhattan Movement & Arts Center in April 2010
Capoeira Center of New York, Inc.
Meet the Mestres: a series of eleven, two-hour monthly workshops with various mestres (masters) in Capoeira, an Afro-Brazilian martial art and dance form, culminating in a public presentation with all participating Capoeira mestres.
Amy Elizabeth Clark / St. Marks Church in the Bowery
Urban Roots Project: an annual ethnic dance fusion festival featuring dance workshops, art exhibitions, and an evening of performance celebrating traditional ethnic arts and their inspiration of dance culture in America.
Dance Parade, Inc.
The Fourth Annual Dance Parade: a parade of dance, extending from Broadway and 28th Street through Union Square to Tompkins Square Park in Manhattan, where it culminates in Dance Fest, featuring live performance, dance lessons and social dancing events.
Dances for a Variable Population
Dances for Seniors / Downtown-Crosstown: a series of 12 workshops for older adults at the Grand Street Settlement on the Lower East Side and Hudson Guild Fulton Center in Chelsea, culminating in performances at each center.
Darrah Carr Dance, Inc.
New choreographic work to be premiered during the company’s New York season in November 2010. Two free family shows will also be part of the season, as well as a community ceili, a traditional Irish dance and music session following the final performance on Sunday afternoon.
DDJW Incorporated (Def Dance Jam Workshop)
Fostering Faith: The Faces of Foster Care: a year-long process of gathering the stories of foster children, foster parents, birth parents/guardians, and social service professionals culminating in the performance of a “choreo-poem.” The work weaves these stories together with selected poems from Tupac Shakur’s book “The Rose the Grew from Concrete,” songs by the Sacred Center Gospel Choir, and original choreography by Aziza.
Maya de Silva Chafe / Vision Urbana, Inc.
Flamenco Revolucion: a full-length contemporary flamenco music and dance concert at the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis High School for the student body and the general public from March 18-21, 2010.
Faye Driscoll / The Interdependence Project
There is so much mad in me: Faye Driscoll’s third evening-length dance work, will premiere at Chelsea’s Dance Theater Workshop from March 31-April 3, 2010, after engaging more than 2,000 members of the Manhattan community throughout its focused creative development period.
Flamenco Latino, Inc.
The Mas Alla Series: six concerts and three workshops at Flamenco Latino Studio Theater featuring dancers and musicians from the company in collaboration with outside artists from tap, salsa and jazz disciplines to produce innovative fusions in performance and instruction, as well as traditional offerings exploring the full spectrum of the flamenco art form.
High Tide Dance (Risa Jaroslow & Dancers)
The New York premiere of the “Partner Project,” a new evening length work by Risa Jaroslow & Dancers.
House of Dance, Inc. (Neta Dance Company)
Our Children’s Harlem Dance XChange: an innovative 14-week dance workshop with a culminating public performance for children and youth of Our Children’s Foundation center in Harlem.

Isadora Duncan and Frederic Chopin: An Anniversary Celebration: a series of three workshops at four community centers, culminating in a performance of many of Isadora Duncan’s Chopin works at a theater in Manhattan’s Upper West Side

Tea Dances: an informal, family-friendly series of six dance performances to take place in Chelsea on Saturday afternoons throughout 2010.
Monica Bill Barnes and Company, Inc.
Monica Bill Barnes & Company will work with intergenerational performers to create and self-present contemporary dance theater works that celebrate individuality, humor and the innate theatricality of everyday life. The works will be presented as part of the Company’s inaugural performance series at The Joyce Theater in August 2010.

Song of the Phoenix: a 90-minute new dance work to be presented at the Harlem School of the Arts Theater from April 15-18, 2010.

Ballet Builders 2010: a showcase performance to give gifted ballet choreographers, selected in open auditions, the exposure and experience to develop their talent and advance their professional careers.

Jody Oberfelder Dance Projects’ 20th Anniversary Season, entitled “Cast of Thousands” at the Abrons Arts Center March 11-13, 2010.

Songs to Live For: an evening of contemporary dance that runs for three nights at Tribeca Performing Arts Center, featuring a new dance theater work in which dancers perform a blend of Indian classical and American modern dance to an original score based on thumris, a genre of classical love songs influence by both Hindu and Muslim cultures, played live by musicians.

Salon Series: three programs of performances and lecture demonstrations on Japanese performing arts at the Tenri Cultural Institute in Spring 2010.
Roxane Butterfly / Changing Times Tap-Dancing Co, Inc.
Roxane Butterfly presents a tribute to Jimmy Slyde with a screening of her documentary film “In the Spirit of Jimmy Slyde,” a contemporary re-staging of Slyde’s classic dance work, an open rehearsal, and a retrospective exhibit of Slyde’s work.

Mazel: an evening length contemporary dance premiere, with 4 free open rehearsals followed by post-presentation discussions in Morningside Heights, culminating in 4 public performances at the Joyce SoHo in March.
