About the artist and work:
Deana Lawson’s work is focused on photographs that examine the body’s ability to channel personal and social histories, drawing on the various formal and informal languages of the medium and its archival capabilities. Her work addresses themes of intimacy, familial legacies, community, sexuality, and injury.  Lawson sees the various people and stages of life that she captures as existing within one expanded family album.
