Opportunities Around Town

Mount Vernon Public Library: Public Art Opportunity Deadline: April 6, 2012

ArtsWestchester, in collaboration with Mount Vernon Public Library, seeks to commission a free-standing, site-specific exterior work to enhance the children’s room entrance to the Mount Vernon Public Library. The work selected will be sensitive to the historic character of the building, identify the library as an energetic and creative community resource, and enliven the streetscape. The project must integrate well with the location and be constructed of weather-resistant materials.

Deadline: April 6, 2012

This opportunity is open to visual artists, ages 18 and older, who reside in or maintain a studio in the lower Hudson Valley (New York City, Westchester, Rockland and Putnam counties). The Panel reviewing submissions will give preference to artists with previous experience in the creation of public art and engagement with the community.
