NYCDOT Announces Spring 2012 Barrier Beautification Open Call

The New York City Department of Transportation’s Urban Art Program is now seeking Spring 2012 submissions from artists for the annual Barrier Beautification open call.

Since Spring 2010, NYCDOT has partnered with the Mayor’s Community Affairs Unit and New York Cares to commission art for barrier sites that typically separate bicycle lanes and pedestrian paths from lanes of vehicular traffic.

The application deadline is February 24, 2012. Selected artists are granted up to $2,500 and will have the support of volunteers for project implementation on April 21, 2012.

Visit www.nyc.gov/urbanart for more information and to access application materials.
