Before the Fall: Remembering the World Trade Center
Before the Fall: Remembering the World Trade Center is an exhibition hosted by the New York State Museum in Albany, NY, in conjunction with LMCC-sponsored artist residencies at the World Trade Center. The exhibition runs from Friday, September 9, 2011 through Saturday, April 28, 2012.
Before the Fall includes the works of LMCC World Views, Studioscape, and Special Projects participants from 1997 – September 10, 2001, including works that were recreated after being lost in the collapse of the North Tower. The exhibit explores these artists’ unique views of and from this famous complex, through works that serve not only as documentation of their experience of working in the World Trade Center, but as a memory of a place that, tragically, no longer exists.
Part of a three-part exhibit that reflected on the significance of the World Trade Center and the effects of 9/11 on the people of New York, the United States, and the world.
Participating artists: Olive Ayhens, Donald Bracken, Monika Bravo, Laurie Halsey Brown, Megan Craig, Dennis d’Amelio, Sjoerd Doting, Joellyn Duesberry, Bart Elsbach, Nancy Friese, Michael Richards, James Sheehan, Sonya Sklarof
