NYC launches new website to help residents in the search for affordable health insureance.

Last week, LMCC staff attended a briefing at NYC Department of Cultural Affairs about NYC Health Insurance Link, a new web-based initiative from the Office of Citywide Health Insurance Access.  After a recent City Council hearing about health insurance and artists, the Insurance Access team invited arts organizations to DCA for a demonstration of their fantastic new website and its resources, in hopes that we might pass the information on to our artists and colleagues.

NYC Health Insurance Link is a clearinghouse of health insurance information for individuals and small businesses. It is a tool that allows you to compare pricing and benefit information for many private health plans and public options in one convenient location.  The website is specifically designed to assist individuals (and small businesses) who may not have access to health insurance through a job, union, or other means. NYC Health Insurance Link also provides information about ways to make coverage more affordable and the site offers education on basic health insurance terms and principles and consumer protections.  Functioning like a calculator, the site collects basic information about your income and family size and returns a list of both eligible private heath plans being offered in New York City including their premiums and benefits, as well as potential public programs for which you may be qualified to apply.

Please note, this is just a service being provided by the city.  They do not underwrite, support, or recommend any of the private plans necessarily, rather they are only providing information.

Are you looking for a health insurance plan that fits your budget?  You have choices, and NYC Heath Insurance Link can help you figure them out.
