Project Descriptions and Biographies

This season is the 26th anniversary of the Franklin Furnace Fund. Initiated in 1985 with the support of Jerome Foundation, Franklin Furnace has annually awarded grants to emerging artists selected by peer panel review to enable them to prepare major performance art works for presentation in New York. Events are presented in partnership with collegial venues, or, in the city environment. This season, Franklin Furnace received 350 applications.

Franklin Furnace Fund for Performance Art 2011-12 grant recipients are:

Eleven artists/collaborations will receive a grant of $6,000 and three artists/collaborations will receive a grant of $2,000. For 2011-12, Franklin Furnace received increased support from the Lambent Foundation Fund of Tides Foundation, matching longstanding funding from Jerome Foundation. Additionally, this program is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council.
