Workspace Resident LaTasha Diggs Performing in ‘MAKING PEACE: THE BLACK BEAUTY BATTLEGROUND!’
From the event invitation:
‘MAKING PEACE: THE BLACK BEAUTY BATTLEGROUND!’ on Wednesday June 30th @ 7.00pm – 9pm
Black beauty can be a battleground, a complicated power. On the small screen, the big screen, in print, media images reject millions, create a weapon used to select, reject, hurt, provoke. Home & >school is often where the trauma starts. Black beauty = privilege & conflict; power & pain. Light skin vs dark? Time to tell untold truths, unspoken realities.
Who owns the power & pain of turning beauty into a battleground? How do you halt a cycle of assault on black women’s beauty? Why does one woman’s beauty = another’s burden? How do we >make peace with our beauty & bodies?
