Microviews: Artists’ Documents of the World Trade Center was an exhibition that explored the processes of reconstruction and memory through everyday documents, offering a unique perspective on the World Trade Center and what the buildings meant to the people who worked in them.

From 1997 – 2001, the LMCC and the Port Authority of NY and NJ collaborated on the residency programs World Views and Studioscape, to provide artist studios in temporarily vacant space in the World Trade Center. The interiors of these buildings provided a fertile environment for the creative process for the artists in LMCC’s residency programs. Microviews was a non-traditional, hands-on exhibition that presented the building’s architecture and environs as documented by the artists during their residencies. Viewers were invited to sift through this archive of daily life at the World Trade Center, including photographs, drawings and video of public areas, office suites, hallways, studios, and infrastructure.

Microviews was organized by Christopher K. Ho and Stephan Apicella Hitchcock with Moukhtar Kocache and Erin Donnelly of LMCC, and produced in association with the Municipal Art Society. The exhibition took place from September 4, 2002 through October 10, 2002 at the Urban Center Galleries of the Municipal Art Society.

Microviews included works-in progress by a number of artists who participated in the World Views program from 1997-2001 including: Simon Aldridge, Stephan Apicella-Hitchcock, Olive Ayhens, Matthew Bakkom, Taleen Berberian, Monica Bravo, Laurie Halsey Brown, Torsten Z.
